My husband and I are happily married seniors who are selling our house of 33 years. We are in escrow and will be free shortly of owning a home too big for us in a small town in Placer County, California. Both of our families are in the NW- one in La Conner, WA and the other in Kelowna, BC. Both have expressed their interest in having us closer to them. My husband has dual citizenship and he could sponsor me for permanent resident status if we chose BC.
We are active and in good health, and are people-oriented. We are well-liked by our neighbors who are sad to see us leave the area. I am a retired public health nurse and nurse practitioner and over 20 years ago, I established an active neighborhood watch program with a telephone list and bi-yearly meetings, thus connecting us in our semi-rural area. My husband is also retired and likes to help our neighbors with yard work, ride-sharing, wood-splitting, etc.
We like the idea of co-op housing, where we would have our own space, yet take part in activities with other seniors of like mind. We don't smoke, drink, take illicit drugs; we don't have any animals at this time. And we are interested in moving into an established co-op housing situation. We lean politically left and do not belong to any religious institution. We are open-minded, believe in diversity, equity and inclusion, and consider ourselves life-long learners.
